at least one source from the Gale (the library's subscription database)
databases. To use this database you must do the following:
- Open internet explorer and click on the
"Library" link while at the Westview Wolverines website.
- Locate the "Gale" link on the library
page.
- Login to the database by using the
password on the back of your ID card.
- In the "Find" search box, type in the name
of the artist or athlete you are researching and click on "Search".
- Once it displays the results, click on the
"Books" tab at the top of the screen to display all reference articles.
- Skim through the articles to locate one
that suits your needs.
- Don't forget to gather the correct MLA
information because you will need to reference this later in your
bibliography. Make sure to enter that information Microsoft Word's Citation

chose. Within this paragraph, make sure that you have paraphrased
something and that you have inserted a citation at the end of that
paraphrasing.
- Paragraph #2: Locate a second
source about your person(s). Then, write about what you believe to be
that person(s)' biggest achievement while quoting something from that
article? Also, tell us why you think this is their biggest achievement?
Insert that source as a new citation. Make sure that the citation is
located at the end of the quote.
- Paragraph #3: What surprised
you the most about this person (something that you did not know about
them)?
- Paragraph #4: If you could,
would you want to be this person? Why or why not? Everyone has good
things and bad things happen to them. Discuss how the positive
and
negative things this person has been exposed to would be fun and not fun
for you. Basically, describe how you would have felt if faced with the
same situations as this person.

what is the biggest thing about life that you have learned from this
person's life.

- Each of you will write your own letter to
the artist or group. However, if you just copied and pasted the song lyrics
into your document from the internet, you are going to need to fix a
formatting issue that occurred.

the address of the person to whom you are writing the letter. It should
be placed below the date with 3 blanks between it and the date. It
should be in normal date format:

greeting. "Dear Mr. Hendrix," is fine. It should be placed below the

- Paragraph 1:
This starts two lines below the salutation. What that really means is
that there should be one blank line between this and the salutation. Do
not indent this paragraph. Write a little bit about yourself and why you
chose that artist/athlete/actor...
- Paragraph 2:
Begin this paragraph two lines below the first one. No indentations. It
should contain A formatted list (Numbered or Bulleted) of the top
five songs or awards of that artist or athlete listed alphabetically.
Make sure to use the bullet or numbering list feature. Don't simply type
in the numbers.
- Paragraph 3:
Start this paragraph off with a quote from a third source from the
internet. At some point in this paragraph, ask that person a question
that relates to the quote that you used. Make sure to cite this quote
with citation.
- Closing - This is your
"Sincerely" line and your name. It begins two lines below your last
paragraph. There are three blank lines between "Sincerely" and your
name. No indentations.
- Watermark - A watermark is an
image that has its wrapping set to "Behind Text" and its color is
adjusted so that it is very light in color and barely seen. Find an
image that represents your artist and place this "watermark" behind your
paragraphs. To adjust the color, click on the image > Recolor > Washout
