Overview
Sandonisa Elementary School is a K-6 facility serving approximately 150 students. We have recently obtained a building site to move the K-6 students out of the existing K-12 building due to growth. The new building has no network or wiring in place at this time. It has been requested that the Technology Committee develop a plan to be implemented during the summer months in preparation for the coming school year.
Technology Committee Proposal
Each classroom will have four Ethernet drops (connections), the computer lab will have 30 drops, and the library will have 7 drops. Each office, workroom, and storage closet will have at least two drops. The server will be located in the wiring closet next the Network Administrator’s office. The maximum distance the CAT 5 cable will run will be approximately 140 feet. The cables will be wired through the walls and ceilings. The DOC inmates will install all wiring. Sandonisa will provide room and board for the inmates and security monitors. In addition, an electrician will be on site to supervise and document wiring to meet federal code.
This proposal provides each classroom with 4 computers. One is for teacher use only, and the other three are for student workstations. The computer lab and the office each have a networked LaserJet printer, while all other printers are local Inkjet printers. All installation and wiring will be completed and ready before the first day of teacher in-service.
