Remove the Extra Words

The first grade students only know how to delete everything at this point. This lesson teaches the students to move the insertion point and delete specific words. When they are finished, I go around the room to make sure there are no "squiggly red or green lines" left. Most often, the students delete the words, but leave behind a double space.

The attached Word document has the words to be deleted in a colored font. It makes it easier for the first grade students to find the words to be deleted. I read the paragraph and demonstrate the work before they try. It works well for a half day schedule when I only see the students for 25 minutes.
